History
Inhabited since pre-Roman times, Uclés was very important during the Moorish period, as a part of the territorial division known as cora de Santaver which was one of the most important cities in that time period. It became the site of a cathedral, a mosque and baths. Its true importance was gained during the Reconquista (or Reconquest) when it became the seat of the Order of Santiago.
