Typhlops monensis is a harmless blind snake species is endemic to Mona Island in the West Indies. No subspecies are currently recognized.

Geographic range

Known only from the type locality, which is given as "Mona Island, West Indies."

Conservation status

This species is classified as Endangered (EN) on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species with the following criteria: D (v2.3, 1994). This means that, even though this species is not Critically Endangered, it is facing a very high risk of extinction in the wild in the near future because the population is estimated to number less than 250 mature individuals. Year assessed: 1996.
