Tymur Melnyk (born 9 July 1985) is an Austrian classical violinist and pedagogue of the ukrainian origin.

Life and career

Tymur Melnyk is teaching at Prayner Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Arts in Vienna and is regularly giving international masterclasses in Europe, Russia and at JVL Summer School of Music in Canada. He is former assistant of Prof. Pavel Vernikov at the Conservatoire De Lausanne HEMU Sion in Switzerland and occasionally at the Scuola Di Musica Di Fiesole in Italy. He currently resides in Vienna, Austria. Born in Kiev, he studied with Prof. Michael Frischenschlager the University of Music and performing Arts in Vienna, with Prof. Hanna Melnyk at Kosta Manojlovic and ″Horeum Margi″ school for musically talented children in Serbia. Further artistic impulses he received from Prof. Zakhar Bron, Prof. Pavel Vernikov (Vienna), Prof. Eugenia Chugaeva (Moscow) and Maestro Vladimir Spivakov.

Tymur Melnyk has been a member of the jury at the EURITMIA International Music Competition in Italy, the SVIREL International Music Competition in Slovenia, at the International Forum Musical Performance and Pedagogyin (Austria) and the Republican Competition in Serbia.

During his student years he was awarded numerous prizes at international violin and music competitions, among others the 2nd prize and the audience prize at the "Johannes Brahms" International Music Competition in Austria, the grand prize and first prize at the Osaka International Music Competition in Japan and European Sting Teachers Association special prize at the "Fritz Kreisler" International Violin Competition in Vienna, Austria. For the duration of his studies he was awarded several prestigious scholarships, among others from the Herbert von Karajan Foundation Austria.

In 2008 Tymur Melnyk received the Austrian citizenship due to his achievements and artistic potential
