Leeds United

Denton started his career at Leeds United in 2003 and graduated through the academy before becoming the under-21 captain for the 2015/16 season. Under new manager Garry Monk, Denton was called into Leeds' first team squad for their friendlies for the 2016/17 pre-season. On 5 August 2016, Denton was given squad number 33 for the season.

He made his first appearance in Leeds' first-team squad when he was named as an unused substitute in the EFL Cup victory against Fleetwood Town on 10 August.

His first team debut came on 23 August, starting at left back in another EFL Cup fixture against Luton Town. He scored on his debut with the opening goal of the game, in a 1-0 victory. His impressive debut saw him named in the EFL Cup Team of the Second round.

On 26 August, Denton signed a new contract on a 3 year deal at the club. On 9 January 2017, Denton made his next appearance for Leeds when he started for Leeds in their 2-1 FA Cup win against Cambridge United. Denton also started against Sutton United on 29 January 2017 in the FA Cup.
International career
In 2011, Denton made his debut for England U17 against the Faroe Islands.
