History

Alternatively known as both the Tsutsujigasaki Yakata, or the Takedashi Yakata, the castle was an extremely well fortified complex. However, it was not classified as a castle. It was home to one of the most famous samurai clans of the Sengoku period, the Takeda Clan. It was in use between 1519 and 1594.

Current

The only remains are a water-filled moats & some rather minor stonework. The Takeda clan shrine is in the centre of the site. To the right of the shrine is the Takeda clan museum, guarded by a stone Hello Kitty.
