With the injuries and poor play of Cortland Finnegan, Johnson earned his first significant starting duty in 2013, playing in all 16 games, starting 12. In the 2013 season opener, Johnson broke up two passes and logged his third pick of his career, grabbing Carson Palmer's pass and returning it 29 yards to the 4-yard line. The next day he was declared out for 6 weeks. In Week 11, three weeks since coming back from injury, Johnson picked off Peyton Manning late in the fourth quarter to seal the win against the Denver Broncos.
