Troyton Rami

The Beginning

Troyton Rami first began his career in music at the tender age of 15 as a Dj in Jamaica and Florida. He later discovered his talent as a creator of beats, evolving into songwriting as well as rapping. But it was his producer skills where he really was able to shine in the Dancehall and Reggae music world. In his youth, he also showed signs of entrepreneurship by founding his own record label, Black Shadow Records. Within the first few years Troyton kept building beats, giving them away to artists, and Djing at different pubs around the city. Eventually Rami started interning at certain recording studios where he absorbed knowledge from more experienced producers. Rami then decided to start creating his own riddims and voicing different artists. The riddims began to create hype not only for himself as a producer but also for the artists featuring in the records.

1999-2002

As a songwriter and producer his skills won him the highest accolades a musician can receive; Grammy Awards for Sean Paul’s Dutty Rock album and the genre-bending Multi-Platinum selling hit, "Gimme The Light". His work on this particular album and song also earned him and Black Shadow Records an ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Award for writing and publishing. That same year International Reggae and World Music Awards named him the 2002 Producer of the Year.

2003-2009

After that hit-record on his Buzz Riddim paved the way for Sean Paul to be signed and become a world recognized mainstream artist, Troyton aspired to reach even further heights musically. In the years that followed, he composed and produced on popular albums like Good 2 Go for dancehall star Elephant Man, while the eclectic performer was signed to P. Diddy’s Bad Boy Records; produced and wrote with Salaam Remi on Kevin Lyttle’s Turn Me On album, which eventually went gold; as well as composed and produced on multiple top-selling compilations albums like Reggae Gold, Strictly Dancehall, and Strictly The Best.
In 2004 Universal Music Publishing signed him as a producer/songwriter. Meanwhile, Grammy winning songwriter, Desmond Child, who has written for Katy Perry, Clay Aiken, Bon Jovi, and Aerosmith, also recruited Troyton to produce music with him from 2004 to 2006. Troyton expanded his musical reach to create new music with world-renowned artists Robyn, the Bloody Beetroots, along with Tego Calderon & Buju Banton that pushed all boundaries, melding Reggae with Rock beats and Latin rhythms, crafting what is now called World Music Sound. He also produced and co-wrote "Cobrastyle" performed by the Teddybears & Mad Cobra, which was used, on the movie soundtracks for Employee of the Month, and King Kong, as well as in the FIFA 06 & Forza Motorsport 2 video games, in a Kia Car Commercial and also as the official theme song for The 2006 WWE Summerslam.

2010s-Present

Troyton joined with fellow Grammy winning music producer Rudy Perez, award winning producer and songwriter Mark Hudson, and pioneer in music technology David Frangioni to work with upcoming artists in the Inspire & Develop Artists Educational Program, IDA. This work has led to the successful launching of quite a few multiple genre careers.

In 2012 Troyton began to create Baha Men’s long awaited latest full-length album, on which he worked from inception to its completion. The album is expected to be released in 2015 under Sony Music Latin. He also worked with Sony Music on the single "Night and Day" by Baha Men, for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Soundtrack. In the midst of all of this, under his label Black Shadows Records, he has been working with and developing his newly signed artist Elisa Polanco, a Dominican-born singer, songwriter, and musician who recently recorded with Ten-Time Grammy nominated Reggae band Third World.

In 2015 he will be releasing a much anticipated new riddim called "Good Energy Riddim", which includes high caliber artists like Mad Cobra, Assassin, Red Rat, Macka Diamond, Honorebel, and many more. The new riddim will feature Elisa Polanco and Mizta B with a reggaeton mix.
