Trombi.com is a social networking website created in 2000 by André Pitié who founded Trombi SARL. This website helps members find, connect and keep in touch with friends from kindergarten, primary school, high school, college in France. Registration
Users must register in order to access the services offered by Trombi.com. The registration process enables the user to search for schools attended by region, city or type of school. Once a school is found, a user may specify the period of attendance, then provide personal data allowing entry into the directory of that school's alumni. User e-mail addresses are used as usernames and to receive messages sent by Trombi.com; the e-mail addresses are obfuscated by the site and are not shared with any third party.
Features
Any member may freely publish up to 11 pictures in a profile.
Any member may freely publish class photos related to the schools he attended, and can then tag the faces in the photos with the names of classmates he recognizes. Members may also view the class photos published by other members.
Any member may search for other members without necessarily knowing the names of their schools, by searching the site's database via first and last names instead.
Any member may add a list of schools attended to a profile, and may specify class years from kindergarten to the highest university degree. For each school, a member may view a list of class alumni.
Any member can create a friend list. Each profile contains an 'I know this person' link. Clicking the link adds the profiled person to the member's friend list. The list, which is displayed as part of the member's profile, allows the member to keep in touch with friends and relatives. The member will also be able to receive alerts in case contacts update their profiles.
Any member can enable e-mail alerts containing information on profile updates made by friends and relatives.
An internal mail system allows members to send and receive messages without revealing their e-mail addresses.
Moderation system
Each picture and each registration is validated by Trombi.com helpdesk employees. Members may not register with false identities.
