Trapezitsa (Bulgarian: Трапезица) is a medieval stronghold located on a hill with the same name in Veliko Tarnovo in northern Bulgaria.

History
During the Second Bulgarian Empire the first castle of Asen dynasty was built on the hill. In the next years on the hill were populated with Boyars and orthodox clerics. The Monastery of St Ivan Riiski (John of Rila) was located in this fortress. The relics of the Saint were kept there to 1495.
Recovery
Since 70s years of XX century the Bulgarian government make plans for restoration The historical hill. In 2009 were restored the south watchtower.
