As of January 2016, Transocean Singapore Pte Ltd has been renamed as Transnav Ship management Pte Ltd. The website is now available at www.transnav-sm.sg

Description

Headquartered in Singapore, Transocean (Singapore) is headed by D.S. Shukla, a former maritime chief engineer and shore-based technical superintendent. The company handles commercial as well as technical management of their vessels, insurance, bunkering, and dry docking, and is LRQA certified in technical, commercial, and crew management.

Transocean's vessels are utilized by oil traders approximately 60 percent of the time, and are typically hired out for charter when not hauling oil.

History

With the acquisition of a single oil tanker, Transocean was launched in 2010 by four seafarers: Master Mariners Capt. Asheesh Anand (commercial head) and Capt. Nadeesh Tripathi (operations head); and former chief engineers L.S. Shukla and Brian Fereira (technical head).

Transocean's involvement in the Nigerian tanker trade quickly expanded from straight technical management to commercial management. As the commercial management side grew, it led to the development of a separate sister company called RS Navoil Energy, a commercial products' tanker operator, chartering ships from both Transocian and other operators depending on customer requirements. Transocean Joint Managing Director Nadeesh Tripathi heads the Navoil operation.

Maritime trade publication Tradewinds reported in 2012 that "Transocean manages just about the entire Nigerian products-tanker fleet." That same year, the company concluded deals on behalf of Nigerian principles to acquire two bunkering-tanker newbuildings in China that will supply oil rigs and vessels operating in the Gulf of Guinea. Transocean's managed fleet of Nigerian-owned ships has been growing at an average of one ship per month. The company has grown from its initial two ships in 2010, to 28 ships in 2012.

In January 2015, Transocean Singapore received the Singapore Maritime Award from the Trade & Industry Association (Singapore).

Transocean has offices in Singapore, India, Hong Kong, China, and Greece, as well as "a substantial shore-side operation in Lagos, Nigeria, with a large technical support team including superintendents."
