SCF

Most Transformers SCF figures are approximately three inches tall. Each figure was sold blind-packed in a box of twelve. There were ten waves or Acts released in Japan starting in late 2000. The first eight acts featured characters from the Generation One Transformers continuity. Acts nine & ten were based solely on Micron Legend characters.

Every basic figure was available in two color schemes. Acts one through three featured characters in their original animation colors as well as clear plastic. Acts four through ten featured characters either in their animation colors or in a metallic "pewter" finish.

Chase figures were randomly available in each act. Some were repaints of existing figures, but many were new or retooled molds. From Act Three through Act Eight, pieces to construct larger-scale figures were hidden with some of the clear or pewter toys. There were also exclusive figures available at conventions or as Lucky Draw prizes.

MEGA SCF

Mega SCF figures consisted of five inch versions of popular Transformers characters. Each came with an assortment of accessories and were more poseable than their smaller SCF counterparts. The first seven figures were based on characters from the Generation One continuity. The final six were based on characters from Micron Legend.

Heroes of Cybertron

Originally released as Transformers SCF in Japan in late 2000, the Heroes of Cybertron line is the North American release of a series of non-transformable PVC figures that closely resemble characters from the Transformers TV series. Most are approximately three inches tall. There were five waves released domestically, typically at retail chains such as Walgreens or Rite Aid. The fourth and fifth waves included with each figure a piece to construct a larger-scale bonus figure. There were also exclusive figures available at Botcon/OTFCC 2003.
