History
TransferMate was launched in 2010 by Terry Clune, Barry Dowling and Sinead Fitzmaurice, a company under The Taxback Group, which consists of 6 other sister companies.
Starting in 2010, the company grew - expanding year on year to 165 employees as of 2016. Instead of using intermediary banks to make transfers, TransferMate set up their own accounts across the world - with 200 accounts in 50 countries according to the company. This allows the company to transfer funds through their own banking network. According to the company, TransferMate is regulated in Europe, Australasia, Canada and state-wide in the United States.
The company invested in their technology to create a 24/7 online FinTech system to allow their customers to make money transfers online. TransferMate created software that would allow them to receive funds locally and then also make payments locally too, eliminating the need for intermediary banks and significantly reducing international transfer fees. TransferMate’s software, which was developed in-house, was incorporated into other accounting provider software systems like MYOB, QuickBooks, XERO, Sage, NetSuite and SAP. These add-ons are intended to allow businesses to "streamline payments and eliminate double entry between banks and their business systems".
