TOP FM is a private radio station owned and broadcast by Top FM Ltd. It starts operations on 31 December 2002 with a Private Commercial Free to Air FM Radio Broadcasting Licence issued by the Independent Broadcasting Authority- Mauritius. It is a radio station with mission to provide you with the best entertainment programs which is nearest to any radio listener's expectations. Top FM and Top TV Mauritius, its web TV have been awarded the Transparency Mauritius Investigative Journalism Award 2015 for its investigation titled “Le décèsde Iqbal Toofanny”.
Legal Matter
During the Municipal Elections 2012, Top FM along with other 2 radio station Radio one and Radio Plus receives a letter by the Independent Broadcasting Authority listing directives to follow the rules and regulations they owe to follow during the mentioned period. The Chairman of IBA accused Top Fm of suspected breaches penalizing the other two private radio in and interview in Le Defi Quotidien but the decision were challenged as Top FM state that they has so far communicate all and requesting the IBA to withdraw the new directives so that Radio Plus and Radio one continue their phone-in programs.
On October 31, 2014, the Independent Broadcasting Authority issued an letter to Top FM for breaching the section 2.3 of the code of Ethics wherein Mr. Jimmy Jean Louis are not allowed to voice out their own opinion during an on-air show.
