Early life

Nicholson was born to a British mother and a Brazilian father. He spent the first 13 years of his life in Oman during which his dad coached swimming and football teams. He later finished his education at a military school in the UK. There, he was awarded a scholarship to study at Hotchkiss, a boarding school in the United States. That is where he was first introduced to the Chinese language, during a Chinese class he took.

Move to China

Nicholson first moved to China at 19 when he enrolled in Chaozhou college, a university in provincial Guangzhou in which he was the only foreign student out of nearly 13,000. After two years he got his degree and got a job teaching workers at a cup factory basic English. In 2007 he moved to Beijing to study the Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Study at Tsinghua University. After three years of Chinese Language Studies Nicholson went to the University of International Business and Economics to study Business Chinese.

Transition into fitness

In 2009, when Nicholson was affected by serious family problems, he began working long hour jobs to cope with the grief. Three months into it he realized he had gotten caught in a cycle of depression and sought to make a change by entering the Beijing 12 week body transformation challenge. At the end of the 12 weeks he was picked out of 50 contestants as the best overall winner and won the grand prize of 100,000 Chinese Renmenbi. The money he won allowed him to quit his job and begin a career in fitness. Since then Nicholson has appeared on CCTV as a promotional track and field athlete, has been featured in an article of China Daily and appeared on the front cover of The Beijinger. He has recently started his own fitness company called 4PointFitness and hopes to go study at Harvard Business School.
