At the age of 24, Ryan owned a chain of tanning salons in Las Vegas. SimplyTan US voted her salon the #1 tanning salon chain in the country. In 2005, Ryan co-wrote a The Way He Made Me Feel, about Tatiana Thumbtzen's alleged relationship with Michael Jackson. Ryan was featured on MSNBC, Access Hollywood, Inside Edition and the BBC Network.
From 2000-2007 Ryan owned a production company under the name of Tonia Ryan Productions.
