Tomer Peretz

Biography

Tomer Peretz (born July 5, 1982) is a Los Angeles-based artist and designer. His time spent serving as a soldier and officer in the Israel Defense Forces gave him the opportunity to create vivid and expressive works from a personal vantage.

Professional career

Peretz’s artwork has been showcased in galleries in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and throughout Israel. Most of his art is commissioned pieces for private buyers. Early in his career, his paintings reflected popular culture. In April 2009, his work was featured in ‘‘Project Ethos’’, a Los Angeles cultural showcase that aims “to connect indie artists into the mainstream world by featuring them in a three-pronged show that includes painters, photographers, musicians, and fashion designers.” Peretz’s work expresses controversial issues regarding Middle East affairs and specifically the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and paintings from his personal experiences serving in the Israel Defense Forces. His 2012 opening exhibition ‘Unbreakable’ featured 25 large-scale paintings and collected artifacts at the Bruce Lurie Gallery in Culver City, Calif. His Kickstarter campaign successfully raised more than $20,000 for this installation.

Peretz’s work has been displayed in multiple shows, including “It’s Halloween at Very Venice Art and Design Gallery” in October 2011; “For the Love of Art” at Tokyo Ice in December 2009; and “Amit Apel Design Studio Gallery Opening” in Los Angeles in May 2009.

His work was also featured at a benefit in partnership with another organization where 100% of the proceeds were given to a charity for children with cancer and their families at the Beit Haitonaim. At art show Love Cures Cancer at the Kress in Hollywood, Peretz donated a painting that was sold at the benefit.

Tomer founded 'LA Art Agency' which encompasses artists from various fields.

Personal

Peretz was born and raised in Jerusalem, Israel and served in the Israeli Defense Forces as a soldier and officer from 2000 to 2004.
