Tom Tierney is a retired Irish rugby union player. He played at scrum-half for Richmond, Garryowen, Munster, Galwegians, Connacht, Leicester and Ireland. He won eight international caps in 1999 and 2000. He previously coached Garryowen FC, Cork Constitution RFC and led Glenstal Abbey School to a Limerick City Senior School's cup win. Tierney is currently the Head Coach of the Irish national women's rugby team. Tom comes from the Fairgreen in Limerick where his mother Anne (Mrs Tierney) still lives & he has one brother Dennis who is a journalist with Limerick 95fm & two sisters Anne-Marie & Elaine. Tom excelled at Compa which is a game played solely in the Fairgreen.
