Early life

Light was born and grew up in Tel Aviv, Israel. As a child, he took on the Hebrew name of Tom Johnatan Or-Paz at the recommendation of his rabbi. He continued using his birth name, Tom Light, for any and all business dealings, however. He also uses Tom John Light. Light studied finance in Israel. At the age of 19, Light moved to Los Angeles and started his first job in the business world as an intern with Infosearch Media.

Career

Light accepted an internship at Infosearch Media at the age of 19. At the time, he had been working on a concept at Infosearch called Answerbag, a question-and-answer database similar to Yahoo! Answers. The Answerbag property was eventually sold to Demand Media in 2006 for $5 million and was then re-branded into eHow. At age 21, Light became the Director of Marketing at Infosearch Media and also began writing about marketing strategies for various industries in his own financial column in the Tel Aviv newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth. In his position as Director of Marketing, Light offered consultation to many companies including Amazon.com, eBay, Match.com, Choice Hotels, and Nine West (among others).

His success managing the marketing strategies of these companies led him into a relationship with Playtech, one of the world's largest online gambling software companies. He founded a marketing business, Tom Light Consulting, which focuses on casino and poker marketing and became the "preferred partner" of Games-OS by Playtech for all its marketing consultation needs. He also founded his own online casino, 7Red.com, and helped turn it into one of the most prominent online casinos on the internet. In 2011, he purchased three online gambling properties, the BonushShot affiliate network, YouSpades Casino, and 11Spades Casino, from Playtech's owner, Teddy Sagi. He then took the three properties and merged them to create 1King.com, another online casino. In 2013, his Tom Light Consulting firm formed a relationship with Hit d.d., a casino company valued at €27 Billion. Light became the chief strategist and board-level consultant for Hit d.d. under the agreement with the unified company expanding operations to Slovenia, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, and other international markets. Light also helped establish Hit d.d.'s online casino, online poker, and sportsbook operations.

Light is also known for his work as the vice president of business development for FashionTV. Light helped expand the scope of FashionTV to include hotel offerings, licensed cosmetics, casinos, forex, and sports betting as part of its content strategy and product line. His work at FashionTV has led him into film production for Bollywood movies.
