Tobias Hutzler is an internationally renowned photographer, director and artist based in New York City. He is best known for capturing the pulse of our constant moving contemporary culture in striking new ways. Influenced by fine art and conceptualism, his work has won many awards and has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Annenberg Space for Photography and the National Portrait Gallery, London.

Hutzler possess a distinct point-of-view that has attracted a wide range of international clients. His ground-breaking work with light has won him recognition in the commercial, editorial and fine art world and has led to major global campaigns. He covered US presidential races for The New York Times Magazine and captured public figures like Pope Francis and then U.S. President Barack Obama for TIME Magazine and other U.S. presidential candidates for The New York Time Magazine.
Hutzler works on a wide range of subjects through his unique conceptual and technical abilities. He worked on rebranding major campaigns for global companies like Chrysler and was commissioned by The Wall Street Journal to interpret and capture the future of transportation. His technical and conceptual work includes a variety of clients like Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Sony Music, Titan Watch, and Porsche. He is represented by Stockland Martel.

Life and work

Hutzler's passion is the exploration of other cultures, worlds, and people. As a teenager he set out on his first major photographic adventure: He crossed the Sahara desert, joined expeditions to climb the highest peaks in Africa and photographed throughout India. At a young age, his perspective for capturing life in all its facets was shaped. He continues to credit traveling the world as his greatest influence. His creative process, his intercultural sensibility, and his experiences led him to communicate and tell stories in a unique way.
Having received his M.F.A. in the U.S., he has studied and taught photography and film at some of the best universities in Germany, UK and the U.S. He is also a recipient of a Fulbright fellowship, a DAAD and a European Union scholarship.
Hutzler’s produced short film “Balance” premiered on Time.com and shortly thereafter went viral with millions of views worldwide.
