Contents

According to the ARIA report writer, "At last!! An album comprising of all 43, yes 43 of T.I.S.M.’s (This Is Serious Mum) GREATEST hits. Included in the masked one’s Best Off album include such family classics as 'Defecate on My Face, Greg!' 'The Stop Sign', 'All Homeboys Are Dickheads', 'The Phillip Ruddock Blues', 'The Ballad of the Semitic Nazi' and everyone’s fave '(He’ll Never Be An) O’l Man River' (#23, June '95). Essential listening for those who require deep, thought provoking music!!" Beat magazine's Bronius Zumeris opined that "Offbeat wit and profanity litter their work" while "Cynics argue that they are a puerile, one joke band trying to flog a dying horse" and the collection "is not a flawless appraisal of their 15 odd years of cultural/musical terror. But it does collate much of the essential TISM for the consumer society."

The disc is a collection of TISM favourites from throughout their career and a few rare tracks which have become live fan favourites, such as "Death, Death, Death". Also on the disc are previously unreleased tracks, "Sid Viscous" and "The Phillip Ruddock Blues" (recorded in the De Rigueurmortis sessions) as well as a remix of "Defecate on My Face" by the Australian band, Machine Gun Fellatio.

This Is Serious Mum: A Collection of Bedroom Recordings 1982-1992

Original pressings of the disc came with a bonus CD titled This is Serious Mum which was, as the title indicated, a collection of bedroom recordings 1982 - 1992. This disc appeals to the hardcore TISM fan because every track on it has been in TISM's possession only and never before available, save for a few heavily edited tracks which appeared on Great Truckin' Songs of the Renaissance (1988). Other notable appearances on this disc are two early versions of songs, which gives fans a brief look at how TISM worked with songs in the studio. I'm Gonna Sit Right Down and Whittle Away My Furniture is noticeably slower than its release on Hot Dogma (1990) and You're Only As Good As Your Fans is a completely different style to the version renamed Play Mistral For Me which was released on Machiavelli and the Four Seasons (1995).
