Seattle day trip to blake island tillicum village

The Tillicum Village is a Puget Sound area visitor attraction located on Blake Island just off the shore of Seattle, WA. It is believed that this attraction dates to the time period immediately preceding the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. The Tillicum Excursion attraction features a scenic cruise from Seattle's central waterfront aboard a passenger vessel operated by Argosy Cruises. The Tillicum Excursion is located on the northeastern shore of Blake Island, a Washington State Park accessible only by boat.

The visitor experience includes a greeting from Tillicum village employees costumed in Northwest Coastal Native tribal costume. Outside the longhouse facility, visitors are given a cup of clams and broth (clam nectar). As visitors enter the longhouse, a cooking display shows whole salmon being cooked on cedar stakes over an alder wood fire in a traditional style of Northwest Coastal Natives. A buffet-style meal is available featuring the just-cooked salmon. Upon completion of the meal, the Tillicum Village dancers provide a performance which incorporates traditional stories, dances, and songs of Northwest Coastal Native groups.

Prior to the return trip to downtown Seattle, time is provided following the performance where visitors may have the opportunity to visit a gallery featuring regional Northwest artwork, watch a totem pole carving demonstration by Native Americans, and walk along the beaches and trails of the Island. Visitors can also camp on Blake Island, and still visit the Tillicum longhouse Facility.
