The Three-tier Panchayats in Auraiya District follow the Indian local governance system, known as the Panchayati raj system. It features elected bodies at the Village, Block (Kshetra) and District levels. It is constituted under Constitution of India.

The Panchayati raj system ensures greater local participation and more effective implementation of rural development programs. Gram Panchayats govern a village or group of villages. Kshetra Panchayat at Block level govern a group of Gram Panchayats and Districts govern a group of Kshetra Panchayats. Panchayat members serve for five years.

The head of Kshetra Panchayat is called Block Pramukh and is elected by members of Kshetra Panchayat.
