History

ThinkTank Learning was founded by Steven Ma in 2002, who left a position as a hedge fund analyst and started the company with his own savings. He was the tutor for the company for the first eight months, working out of a small office in Cupertino, California. Classes were the primary focus of the program. Within three years the company's revenues had grown to about $1 million per year, and they opened a second office in Fremont, California. In 2014 the company started a college consulting program for assistance with college admissions. In 2014 centers opened in San Francisco, California and Fremont, California. In 2013 they opened in Millbrae, California and Palo Alto, California. In 2011 centres opened in Pleasanton, California and Palo Alto, California.

Programs

ThinkTank Learning provides standardized test instruction to students and college admissions counseling. It operates in the State of California and China, where it opened its first office in 2009. By 2010 the company operated five centers with Ma serving as CEO. The company opened two more offices in China between 2009 and 2011. In its college admissions counseling program, the company helps students with their applications, including helping prospective students how to write their resume. It uses software the company calls Predictor to determine the specific metrics of a student and how they measure up to admissions criteria. The company can start as early as the beginning of high school though most packages last less than a year.
