It was founded in February 2000 by the late Franklin Z Adell. The station is currently run and operated by Adell's son, Kevin Adell. Adell Broadcasting Company houses 3 media properties, 910am Superstation (a local urban-talk radio station), WADL TV-38, (a television network serving the Detroit television market, and The Word Network. Growth

In May 2012 “The Word Network” completed a multimillion-dollar expansion. The expansion includes new technology, production facilities, editing suites, green rooms, executive conference room, additional offices, and a television studio. Facilities were also opened on the West Coast, in Orange, California.

"The Word Network" brand expanded to radio in January 2015, following Adell's purchase of former Radio Disney affiliate WFDF-AM 910 in Detroit for $3 million.
