History
The Wakes continue to perform throughout the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. In 2008, the group wrote "The Pirates of the League" about the cult German football club FC St Pauli. The club and supporters trusts has since used the song on various releases and The Wakes have played at the home stadium of FC St. Pauli—Millerntor-Stadion—in Hamburg, Germany.
In 2010, R2 Rock & Reel magazine awarded their album No Irish Need Apply four out of five stars, and their 2013 follow up The Red and The Green was awarded the same rating by the publication.
In 2013, the band made their debut performance at the Glasgow international folk festival Celtic Connections.
