The expected shooting duration is about 35 days in India , and 15 days in Los Angeles/Malaysia. With The Vanishing Act, Rupesh Paul wants to explore the new galore of technologies and their effect on the human brain, which have not been explored before.

The film's trailer was shown at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival to seek co-producers for the movie. The film reportedly has received offers for co-production from China and Malaysia. When asked, the director said he had rushed the teaser for the sake of Cannes, and afterwards issued an unconditional apology for the fictional love-triangle portrayed in the teaser, and the press was told that he wished a film to be released by September. The trailer was shot at Mumbai in six days. A completed film is expected for as early as an August release.

The Official Logo of the feature film was released at the AFM 2014 recently by Rupesh Paul.

Synopsis

The Vanishing Act is an in-flight story of an unknown psychological ailment that comes up as a challenge for the onboard passengers. It spins the story of a young software developer, Dylan, whose discovered creation spills blood over his dream of being famous. The storyline is being kept confidential so far, and will only be revealed in its pre-premiere period.

Criticism

A teaser of the movie was released at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, and received an adverse reaction from social and mainstream media. The film has been heavily criticised for not being considerate towards the families of the individuals onboard Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. . The film has received heavy criticism especially over its timing, its thriller genre, its romantic subplots, the terrorist undertones and its title. After receiving much criticism on the story of the film, the producers courageously decided to go ahead with the project. RPPL wants to announce the premiere for the film at the Marche du Festival segment of Cannes International Film Festival 2015. They have now come up with an altogether different storyline, which can be defined as a psychological-thriller. "We respect the sentiments of all those who experienced loss due to the tragedy, and the intention was never to benefit out of it. I’m a filmmaker and I would like to loosely base the film on one of the most baffling mysteries which has remained unanswered." says Mr. Rupesh Paul.

Trivia

The stunts of the movie will be choreographed by the renowned Stunt Master, Jared S Eddo who has previously worked in movies like ‘The Expendables,’ ‘The Hunger Games’ ‘300’ and ‘Meet the Spartans’.
