History

Richard Shanks thought up the concept for The-Unreachables in July 2014 after attending the Millionaire Business School hosted by Peter Sage and Errol Abramson. Shanks wanted to make it possible for everyday people to meet the celebrities they viewed as “unreachable”, while raising funds for charity.

The first person Shanks brought on board to join The-Unreachables was Jenna Shanks as CEO in July 2014, straight after he conceived the idea.

The company was registered as a private company on the 5th of October 2014 and trademarked on the 21st of February 2015.

When a user donates to a campaign, the user receives a campaign-specific HD wallpaper, as well as any downloadable content made available by the campaign celebrity.

Video calls

The main prize for the campaigns run by The-Unreachables, is a video call with the campaign celebrity. This is done through Skype, Google Hangouts or FaceTime. In cases where the connection is too poor for a video call, a voice call is arranged.
