Reception

The game was met with mixed reception upon release. GameRankings and Metacritic gave it 55.54% and 58 out of 100 for the PlayStation 2 version, and 55.51% and 53 out of 100 for the Xbox version.

Maxim gave it a score of eight out of ten and said that the game "dispenses with T2’s cyborg-boy love plot, so you can focus on blasting titanium drones into nuts and bolts." However, Entertainment Weekly gave it a C− and stated that the game "could have been a conspiratorial mind-bender like The Thing; instead, it's a pretty, empty third-person shooter (which, like Superman [Shadow of Apokolips], suffers from a slipshod control interface and horrible camera placement)."
