The Sea Shall Not Have Them is a 1954 British war film starring Michael Redgrave (1908-1985), Dirk Bogarde (1921-1999), Anthony Steel, (1920-2001) and Nigel Patrick (1912-1981). It was directed by Lewis Gilbert (b. 1920) and is based on the 1953 novel by John Harris (1916-1991), set during the Second World War (1939-1945). Musical soundtrack by composer Malcolm Arnold. The film title is from the motto of the British Royal Air Force's Air Sea Rescue Service.

Premise

A British aircraft is forced to ditch in the North Sea. Taking to the dinghy with the crew is an Air Commodore with secret German plans. An RAF Air Sea Rescue launch is deployed to the search, struggling against bad weather, mechanical problems and a fire in the galley.
