The Return to the Acid Planet is an album released by German IDM artists Funkstörung in 2005. It commemorates the duo's 10th anniversary as recording artists, and consists of new versions of unreleased early tracks as well as some new tracks in the same style. Even though it sounds very much like acid house, Funkstörung replaced most of the original straight beats with breakbeats. The album sounds very technical and synthetic, with only sparse voice samples added to the 303 basslines and 808 beats. Funkstörung have noted that they didn't use real vintage hardware for the record, but virtual instruments that sounded quite the same.

Contents

The album is only available as limited edition double vinyl (!K7 Records catalogue number !K7186LP) and in the iTunes Music Store. Funkstörung have stated that "there are enough CDs already". No singles have been released, although there is a music video for "Punk Motherfucker".
