The Profit is an American reality television show broadcast on CNBC. On each episode Marcus Lemonis offers struggling small businesses capital investment and his expertise in exchange for an ownership stake in the company. The series premiered on July 30, 2013. The second season premiered on February 25, 2014. The second part of season 2 returned October 2014. After a successful season 2 with ratings going up +115% from last year’s first season, the third season premiered Tuesday May 12, 2015.

Lemonis does not get paid by the production company nor do they help fund his investments on the show. Occasional promotions for AT&T, Chase, and LegalZoom have appeared.

In Australia, the series airs on A&E.

A 2016 spin-off, The Partner, will feature Lemonis searching for a business partner to help run businesses featured in The Profit.

“The Profit” returned for a fourth season on August 23, 2016, at 10PM ET/PT.

A special titled The Profit in Cuba aired on November 15, 2016 which featured Lemonis travelling to Cuba to explore new business and entrepreneural opportunities in the country. It was watched by 478,000 viewers.
