History
The Missouri Bar traces its lineage to a voluntary membership organization called the Missouri Bar Association. This organization included over 1600 members in the 1930s, but excluded Missouri's black lawyers . In 1945 the organization changed its name to The Missouri Bar, became a mandatory bar, and racially integrated.
Structure
Bar policy is set by a Board consisting of the organization's officers plus Board members elected by district.
The Bar enforces the rule that Missouri lawyers must complete 15 credits each year.
