The Looprevil Press, sometimes abbreviated as LP, is the official student newspaper produced by and for students at Liverpool John Moores University. The press is both a student society and part of the Liverpool Students' Union media, which also provides funding. It is currently the only student newspaper in circulation in Liverpool.

Formation

The press was formed in 2008 by Shamit Patel, originally starting as a website providing news on subjects such as entertainment and sport, as well as publishing student opinions on current affairs. Following continuing success, funding was provided by the students' union allowing the press to go into print in September 2010. Since then the newspaper is released quarterley throughout the year (September, November, February, and June) and made available on university campuses and throughout the city, as well as maintaining the press website.

The Looprevil Press works very closely with the student radio - Looprevil Radio.

Press identity

The name "Looprevil" Press is "Liverpool" backwards, and the tagline of the paper is "Bringing you the other side of Liverpool". Both were done to express the duality of both, the fun student life and conducting professional journalism.

Awards

The newspaper has become one of the most successful societies of the Liverpool Students' Union, and has since its formation been voted and awarded "Best New Society 2009" and "Best Society 2010" at the annual L-S-U Awards.
