The Lexington Ballet is a ballet company and school located at 161 North Mill Street in Lexington, Kentucky. The company presents four or five main productions each year, most of which are presented at the historic Lexington Opera House. The company dancers, along with the artistic and school director, teach classes at the studios to students of all ages. These dancers also perform in the productions and there are all levels available, from beginner to pre-professional. The Lexington Ballet is a nonprofit organization and is dedicated in bringing dance to all parts of the city.

About

The Lexington Ballet was founded in 1974 as a professional Company, and in later years split into two companies, one of which is the Kentucky Ballet Theatre that remained a professional Company whereas the Lexington Ballet only contained only a school of dance. Luis Dominguez reestablished the professional company in 2002 and it has been made up of both a professional group of dancers and students ever since. The Lexington Ballet performs both classical and neoclassical ballets and has operated under the slogan "Inspire. Educate. Cultivate."

Company

Artistic Director: Luis Dominguez was born in Mexico City and began his ballet training under two former principles of The National Ballet of Mexico. He then studied at the Dance Theatre of Harlem in New York and toured with them for eighteen years. He took the role as artistic director of The Lexington Ballet in 2002 and reestablished The Lexington Ballet Company in 2009.

Company Dancer: Angelito Anacan was born in Honolulu, Hawaii where he trained with the Pacific Youth Ballet, Hawaii State Ballet, and Ballet Hawaii. He also trained with the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and worked for the Dance Theatre of Tennessee as a company artist. He joined The Lexington Ballet Company in 2015.

Company Dancer: Ayako Hasebe is originally from Saitama Japan, but she began her training at the Van Metre School of Dance in Tennessee. She continued her training at the Koshizuka Natsuko Ballet School in Japan before obtaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance at Butler University. Finally she attended the esteemed Vaganova Seminar in St. Petersburg, Russia before joining The Lexington Ballet company in 2010.

Company Dancer: Alixandra Kish is from Winston-Salem, North Carolina and trained with the North Carolina School of the Arts for nine years. She was a member of the Pittsburgh Theatre Graduate Program for three years and also participated in a number of summer intensives. She joined The Lexington Ballet Company in 2013.

Company Dancer: Jake Lowenstei attended summer programs at Houston Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet. He also trained as a member of the Pittsburgh Theatre Graduate Program and performed with Ballet Idaho for three years. He joined The Lexington Ballet Company in 2013.

Company Dancer: Casey Myrick began training at the School of Nashville Ballet before receiving a full scholarship to Vanderbilt University's pre-professional dance program. After that, he performed for the Dance Theatre of Tennessee before joining The Lexington Ballet Company in 2015.

Company Dancer: Angelica South is from Traverse City, Michigan where she studied at Ballet Etc. Dance Institute. She danced for nine years with the Northwest Michigan Ballet Theatre. She also worked with the West Michigan Youth Ballet for two seasons and attended multiple prestigious summer programs such as the American Ballet Theatre Collegiate Intensive. She joined The Lexington Ballet Company in 2014.

Company Dancer: Megan Coleman Stuart is from Michigan where she trained with a number of esteemed professionals such as Samantha Shelton and Patricia Squire Lorenz. She danced with the Detroit Opera House Civic Ensemble and the Ballet Theatre of Ohio before joining The Lexington Ballet Company in 2011.

Company Dancer: Hayley Ann Vasco - She was born in Manama, Bahrain and began training with Virginia Ballet Theatre in 1998. She furthered her dance training with Dance Spectrum Hawaii, Hawaii State Ballet, and Ballet Memphis. She also performed with Virginia Ballet International and attended multiple summer programs before joining The Lexington Ballet Company in 2014.

School

The Lexington Ballet provides expert ballet training for all ages. Nancy Dominguez directs the school and is nationally recognized along with the staff to provide instruction to all levels.

The Student Company contains upper level school dancers that perform alongside the company. They perform in all Lexington Ballet productions and receive pre-professional training.

In the summer, there are open classes, a summer intensive with 3 available weeks, and an adult intensive for adults desiring to share their love for dance as well. For children ages 4–10, there is a music, art and dance camp.
