Overview
The Label Life was founded as The Label Corp by Preeta Sukhtankar in November 2012. Prior to founding the corporation, she played a management role at a celebrity and entertainment marketing company. Before which she served as vice president and publisher of the Apricot group of magazines which includes L’Officiel and Seventeen. She was a producer at MTV India leading the fashion and talent endeavors including shows like MTV Style Check and MTV Style Awards. Further, she contributed as part of the 'early' team at India’s first fashion magazine ELLE India and was the youngest editor at the Sunday Observer in her teens.
In 2013, The fashion house received funding of worth US$2,00,000 from an angel investor and US$1 million from Kalaari Capital, a Bangalore-based VC fund.
Preeta Sukhtankar is the current CEO of the Label Life. The home decor category of the brand is headed by Interior designer Sussanne Khan. The clothing category is headed by Bollywood actress Malaika Arora Khan. In November 2013 Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu joined the group as the head of the accessories and shoes category.
At present, the company has over 50 employees, most from publishing or style backgrounds.
Partnerships
In November 2014, the group partnered with Amazon India to sell their products online from the Closet Label and the Trunk Label collections.
