His stay in the nursing home, where there are other guests, leads him to new terrors. His only outlet is the cigarettes, and the proximity of sister Sally, a sister. She starts suffering from terrible nightmares and visions. His aunt, Julia, with whom Toby was having an affair seems to be the only person he trusts, until circumstances make even her intentions dubious. Toby begins to suffer hallucinations and during the night he relives the terrible moments that led him to a wheelchair. And praised Pattinson by saying that "(he) played the airman of the title with a perfect combination of youthful terror and world weary cynicism."
