In March 2016, it was announced Sofia Coppola would write and direct the film, based upon the novel and film of the same name, with Elle Fanning, Nicole Kidman, and Kirsten Dunst joining the cast of the film, while Focus Features will distribute the film.
Coppola will serve as a producer on the film, alongside her elder brother Roman Coppola and Youree Henley, while Fred Roos will serve as an executive producer under their American Zoetrope and FR Productions banners respectively. In July 2016, Colin Farrell joined the cast of the film. In October 2016, Angourie Rice, Oona Laurence, Emma Howard, Addison Riecke joined the cast.
Filming
Principal photography began on October 31, 2016, and concluded on December 7, 2016.
Release
The film is scheduled to be released on June 23, 2017.
