"The Ballad of Go Go Brown" is synthpop trio Heaven 17's first single of 1988 from the album Teddy Bear, Duke & Psycho. It was written by all three members. The single was released in late 1988 and peaked at #91 in the UK, spending 2 weeks on the chart. This would be the band's final chart entry in the UK singles chart excluding remixes of previous hits.

Contents

The track moved away from the trio's usual synthpop sound and instead featured guitars and a western influenced sound.

No promotional video was created for the single but a performance of the track was shown on the Get Fresh TV show along with a performance of the following single "Train of Love In Motion."

Allmusic stated "Teddy Bear, Duke & Psycho marked the first time that Heaven 17 highlighted guitar and real bass. Worth the price of the album, however, is the out of character country-tinged "The Ballad of Go Go Brown." Heaven 17 had never sounded like this before, and it demonstrated their versatility."
