Thamber is a village of Barara tehsil in Ambala district in the Indian state of Haryana. It is situated on the border of Yamunanagar and is more than 800 years old. It is the second largest village of Haryana and has a population of nearly 17,000; it is also one of the largest Rajputs village consists of agni kul Chauhan Rajputs migrated from Neemrana near Ajmer of Rajasthan State. The village's more than 12,000 votes play an important role in assembly elections as this village is considered influential in affecting district politics and have capacity for polarisation of votes during National and State assembly elections.However inner location of village and its ill connectivity by road mars it overall progress and development. Lately, people of this village has started migrating to urban cities for betterment in education and quality life of future generations.

  • Commandant Jangvir Singh Chauhan, (Renowned Military and Civil Aviation Pilot ex-Naval Academy Pass-out, 1983-Banaras Hindu University-Techie, GATE Topper, 1987-MBA from New Delhi). The Honorable President of India bestowed 02 Gallantry Medals (1995 & 2012) for saving invaluable human lives in Maritime SAR and in an active Naxal Attack on CRPF and Maharashtra Police at Gadhchiroli, Maharashtra. He retired in 2008 as Commandant from Armed Forces of Indian Union. He was trained by the US Army in Texas (2008) as FAA, EASA & DGCA approved Examiner/Flight Instructor. He is probably the only pilot in India and among a very few distinguished in the world to hold a coveted Open Ratings (to fly Aeroplanes as well Rotorcrafts) of more than 12 variants. He settled in Hiranandani's at Mumbai and at #7, Sector-Phi-2, Greater Noida, but still maintains traditional ancestral farms and cultural roots in his village.
  • Recently on 24 Sep 2014, he has been appointed as Senior Flight Operations Inspector by Dte General of Civil Aviation under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, N Delhi as a Gazetted Group-A, Class-I Director Level Post in Central Government. This being most desired, highest in profession and a highly coveted post for helicopter pilots is worth an applaudable achievement by this simple son of soil.

  • Sh. Shamsher Singh Chauhan S/O Late Sh. Dharam Singh Chauhan is a mechanical engineer topper from Thapar Engineering College, Patiala (Now Thapar University). He served as director of (Projects)(Retd.), Haryana Power Generation Corporation Limited, and has contributed his service in installation of various thermal power projects in Haryana including 2 X 300 MW Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Station, Yamunanagar and 2 X 600 MW Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Station, Hisar (Haryana).
