History
Thai Bloom was founded by Chef Sayan Promwongsa & Walter Bowers after closing of Typhoon Restaurants, an Oregon-based food chain with outlets in 5 Pacific Northwest cities. Chef Sayan Promwongsa came to America in early 2000 where he served as the Typhoon’s Head Chef in Beaverton until the February 5, 2012 closing. He was awarded the 1998 Bronze Medal and 1999 Gold Medal by the Thailand Chef’s Association as the Chef de partie at the Siam Inter-Continental. Thai Bloom opened its doors for business at the Beaverton location on August 25, 2012. The NW Portland restaurant opened on November 14, 2014.

Thai Bloom! Restaurant received the 2016 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for its Beaverton and NW Portland locations. This recognition accounts for the quality, quantity and recency of reviews submitted by travelers on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period. Thai Bloom was honored with the 2015 Judge’s Choice Award at the Fifth Annual Soup’s on tasting event hosted by the Sisters of St. Mary of Oregon and the City of Beaverton. The annual event features entrants from local restaurants, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, and the Beaverton Police Department. Proceeds benefit The Oregon Food Bank. Thai Bloom won the 2014 and 2013 Golden Ladle Awards for previous appearances at this event. Assistant Manager Somphone “Sam” Saisiri was named a Washington County Visitors Association Front-Line Hospitality Hero in May 2012.
