Televisão de Cachorro is the fourth studio album of the Brazilian rock band Pato Fu. The album was produced by Dudu Marote. Televisão de Cachorro in Pato Fu's career and the first produced in part by Dudu Marote sold 120,000 copies and strengthened the bonds between them, leading to the next album Isopor, where the electronics predominate. This was the first one after the inclusion of the drummer Xande Tamietti and had special appearances by André Abujamra (from Karnak) and Edu K. The big hit was "Antes que Seja Tarde." The album has a heavier rock sound than the predecessors and the subsequent. The concern with denser subjects emerge in the political lyrics for "Licitação" and "O Mundo não Mudou", marking a departure from their cute profile which predominated the inconsequent humor. The influence of Tropicália is evident in "A Necrofilia da Arte", which brings the Gilberto Gil melody for "Alfômega" (1969) under new lyrics by Rubinho Troll. The influence of the '80s, evidenced through the references to The B-52s, Devo and Talking Heads, is also brought in the version for "Eu Sei" (Legião Urbana cover). "Canção pra Você Viver Mais" is mirrored in Portishead. After their most consistent album, Gol de Quem? (1995), which made justice to the pop idiom through nonchalance, inconsequence, and adolescent humor, Televisão de Cachorro tries to establish an artificial maturity which is a testimony of a tired formula, fortunately changed in the following album, Isopor.
