A resident of River Edge, New Jersey, Semiz started bowling at the age of 13 in Bergenfield, New Jersey. After turning professional in 1961, he joined the PBA Tour in 1968.
Semiz won 10 events on the PBA Tour, and also won both the Classic Singles and the All-Events titles at the 1972 ABC Open Championships. Competing in the ABC Masters, Semiz finished the 1973 event in fourth place. At the 1983 Masters, Semiz had a 300 game and finished in seventh place. At the 1997 Masters, he finished the tournament in fifth place. In 1997, Semiz become the oldest player to win an event on the Senior PBA Tour.
