Organization

The agency is currently headed by Sheriff Brian Hieatt, The TCSO is an accredited agency.

Uniform Division:

  • Patrol Division The Patrol Division’s duties include crime deterrent patrols throughout all of the communities within the county along with answering emergency calls.
  • Civil Process The Civil Process Server is responsible for serving all civil papers in an assigned area and is also responsible for a timely service of all assigned civil process papers.
  • Warrant Service The Warrant Service Division answers emergency calls, enforces laws, and serves arrest warrants.
  • Extradition The Transport Division is in care of transporting inmates from other jails in the state to the Tazewell County Courts.
  • K-9 Unit The K-9 Unit consists of a Tracking team, an Illicit Substances team, and an Explosive Detection team.
  • Court Security The security of the courthouse is the responsibility of the Sheriff.
  • Crime Prevention Programs:

  • School Resource Officer The School Resource Officer Program is a collaborative effort by certified law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and the community to offer law related educational programs in the schools in an effort to reduce crime, drug abuse, violence, and provide a safe school environment.
  • Neighborhood Watch The Neighborhood Watch program tries to increase the quality of life and reduce the crime rate in the neighborhood.
  • Project ChildSafe Project Childsafe tries to ensure safe and responsible firearm ownership and storage.
  • DARE The D.A.R.E. program targets children at an age when they are most receptive to drug prevention education and before they are likely to have experimented with tobacco, alcohol and drugs.
