The Taylorsville-SLCC Symphony is an orchestra based in Taylorsville, Utah, United States.

History

The Taylorsville Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2003 under the direction of Richard Brunson. Since that time the orchestra has grown in size and scope. In 2005 the Salt Lake Community College orchestra joined forces with the Taylorsville Symphony Orchestra to create an outstanding ensemble.

Director

The orchestra is now under the direction of Adam Larson, the music director at Salt Lake Community College.

He received his Bachelor of Music Education degree at the University of Utah in 2003 where he played the trumpet in the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble I, Orchestra, Marching Band, and Pep Band.

He received his master's degree in Music Conducting through the American Band College Program of Sam Houston State University in 2011 where he worked with such artists as Col. Arnald Gabriel, Anthony Maiello, Col. Lowell Graham, The Boston Brass, the US Army Herald Trumpets, Harry Watters, Frank Ticheli, Robert W. Smith, Johan de Meij, and many others.

Adam is also the Director of Instrumental Music at Skyline High School. He keeps an active playing schedule playing with such groups as The Utah Wind Symphony, The Park City Brass Quintet, and Portrait Dance Band.

Operational structure

The Taylorsville-SLCC Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit organization led entirely by a volunteer board with the support of the Taylorsville Arts Council and Salt Lake Community College. The Community Board of Directors is composed of individuals from the orchestra who donate their time to help ensure the vitality, longevity, and financial stability of TSO.
