Design
The Tanzer 25 is a small recreational keelboat, built predominantly of fiberglass, with wood trim. It has a fractional sloop rig, a transom-hung rudder and a fixed fin keel or optionally, a shoal-draft keel. It displaces 4,200 lb (1,905 kg) and carries 1,650 lb (748 kg) of ballast.

The boat has a PHRF racing average handicap of 180 with a high of 174 and low of 189. It has a hull speed of 6.26 kn (11.59 km/h).
