In 1972 at age thirteen, Tucker released her debut album Delta Dawn on Columbia Records, which peaked at #32 on the Billboard Magazine Top Country Albums chart. After releasing three commercially unsuccessful albums between 1980 and 1982, Tucker made a successful comeback in 1986 on Capitol Records with Girls Like Me. For the remainder of the decade, Tucker released three more successful albums: Love Me Like You Used To (1987), Strong Enough to Bend (1988), and the compilation Greatest Hits (1989). In 1991 Tucker's next studio release What Do I Do with Me became her first album to be certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America while also certifying gold in Canada. Can't Run from Yourself (1992) also certified platinum while also reaching #12 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and peaking at #51 on the Billboard 200. After releasing three more studio albums in the 1990s, Tucker released Tanya in 2002 in junction with Capitol and her own label Tuckertime Records.
