History
Tanesashi-Kaigan Station was opened on November 10, 1924 as Tanesashi Station (種差駅) on the Japanese Government Railways (JGR), which became the Japan National Railways (JNR) after World War II. All freight operations were discontinued as of October 1, 1962. The station has been unattended since November 16, 1982. With the privatization of the Japan National Railways on April 1, 1987, it came under the operational control of JR East. It was renamed on December 1, 2002 to its current name.
