History and Actions
The Tahoe Park Association (TPA) was established with the goal of protecting, preserving and improving the Tahoe Park community as a neighborhood with historical significance in Sacramento, California. While Tahoe Park has many attributes which attract people to move to Tahoe Park it is an area that has been riddled with dangerous traffic, safety concerns on its main streets and one of the reasons why TPA was created to address these concerns. Originally formed under the Tahoe Park Preservation Association Initiative (TPA) it has grown to become an official neighborhood association recognized by the city of Sacramento under the name the Tahoe Park Association (TPA).
The Tahoe Park Association spearheaded the first walk audit in the history of Tahoe Park which took place on June 28, 2014. It was held to address unsafe speed and dangerous safety conditions for residents, children, seniors and the disabled on Tahoe Parks main streets.
Bike and Pedestrian Advocacy
Bicycle and pedestrian safety is a major advocacy issue for the Tahoe Park Association (TPA). The Tahoe Park Association demonstrated these goals regarding the increased safety of protected bike lanes in a recent studies. TPA referenced Atlantic Cities which reported that researchers found that in Vancouver and Toronto, protected bike lanes saw reduction in non-fatal road injuries up to 90 percent.
