Taha Afshar (born 1983) is an English painter and sculptor.

Early life and education

Afshar was born in 1983 in Winchester where he studied Art and History of Art, was award the Drew Scholarship and first exhibited in local galleries and went to Winchester College. He then studied Economics at University College, London, and before completing his PhD at the London School of Economics.

Career and works

Afshar is best known for his Nordic landscapes. His painting seeks to shed new light on the subject of landscape painting in the 21st century and draws influence from J. M. W. Turner and Cy Twombly, whilst being linked with contemporary painters such as Peter Doig with the use of magic realism.
