Syrup USA were a four-piece indie pop band from Boston, Massachusetts, that formed in 1993 and disbanded in 1998. The brainchild of lead singer and guitarist Seana Carmody (formerly of Swirlies), their sound blended elements of 1960s pop and synthpop, and was compared to Stereolab.

History

Syrup USA were formed in 1993 with the lineup of Carmody, Matt Fein (organ, guitar), Orrin Anderson (drums) and Sam Mallery (bass, vocals).

They released one full-length album, All Over the Land in 1997, on Flydaddy Records, preceded by two 1995 7" singles on Tru Luv, Spinning at 45 Revolutions Per Minute and "Teen Death".

Fein performed on Sebadoh's 1994 album 4 Song CD.

Carmody later released a solo album, Struts & Shocks, in 2002 on Kimchee Records, with Anderson also performing on drums and keyboards.
